A mid-century modern Danish design classic from 1950, the CH25 Lounge Chair caused a bit of stir when it was first introduced by its designer, Hans Wegner. It was considered revolutionary for its use of woven paper for the seat—a replacement for the seagrass developed during World War II for woven seating. The new material proved to be more durable due to its tendency not to stretch. While clean and simple, the CH25 stands out for its distinctive shape, particularly the low-angled back legs which create a relaxing sitting position. Produced in Denmark, mostly by hand, the CH25 Lounge Chair is made from solid oak or walnut with an oiled finish. The handwoven seat is made from natural paper cord. Hans Wegner’s work is represented in MoMA’s collection. The CH25 Lounge Chair measures 28.7h x 27.9w x 28.7"d Seat Height:13.7"h.
