Brooklyn-based designer Ellen Van Dusen employs her keen eye for stripes and color combinations—she approaches stripes as if they were math problems—and applies them to vibrant designs for mealtimes. Made from cotton using a jacquard weave, this set of four Dusen Dusen Stripe Napkins will bring energy and optimism to any table. Each Dusen Dusen Stripe Napkin measures 20l x 20"w. Machine-wash cold, tumble-dry low or hand-wash and lay flat to dry.

“I have studied the visual system of color from all angles, specifically why we see color and why we are drawn to it. Color holds various meanings for different people and cultures, but with the same underlying principles of how we process contrast.”
“I think color relationships are more important than any color on its own. I see it sort of like different keys in music—as long as you keep the relationship between notes the same, you have the same song.”
“I have always been drawn to color in a visceral way. I've gotten particularly into stripes in my own work as it is one of the purest forms of putting color together—it allows color to do all the work.”
Designer Ellen Van Dusen launched her brand Dusen Dusen in 2010 with a line of womenswear featuring original prints on versatile silhouettes. In 2015, she expanded her brand with the introduction of Dusen Dusen Home, which now includes towels, a bathrobe, a tissue box and a trash bin. The designs are characterized by vibrant colors and stripes, inspired by fine art and Van Dusen’s research into how our brains react to color.
