MoMA Exclusive: Charles and Ray’s most recognizable motif, the Dot Pattern, has been reproduced on this skateboard that has been produced exclusively for our customers. The story of the Dot Pattern began in 1947 when MoMA invited a number of studios to submit textile designs for the Museum’s “Competition for Printed Fabrics.” The Eameses submitted two designs—Crosspatch and Sea Things—but a third design, Dots Pattern, was not. The pattern recalls musical notes but also a resemblance to Eames’ famous chairs with tubular frames and rounded seat and backs.

Dot Pattern did not go into production during the Eameses’ lifetime, but it later became their most popular textile design after it was revived in 1999 using the original drawings. The Eames Dot Pattern Skateboard is made from Canadian maple wood and measures 32h x 8.25w x 0.5"d. Manufactured by Globe Skateboards.
