As lifetime travelers, Charles and Ray Eames delighted in returning home laden with various accessories and objets d’art, using them to furnish and decorate The Eames House, their private home. The Eames House Bird is based on the black bird figure that stood in their living room for over 50 years. Originally procured as an exemplar of Appalachian folk art from the mountains in the eastern US, the Eames House Bird made cameo appearances in many of the Eames’ photographs and was highly prized by the couple.

In collaboration with the Eames Office, Vitra has issued this Eames House Bird in dark walnut with a clear lacquer finish. Perched halfway between the ideals of rustic charm and sleek modernism, it perfectly embodies the Eameses' influential design aesthetic. Charles and Ray Eames have work in MoMA’s collection.

Made in Germany of solid alder wood with steel legs. To clean the Eames Bird, wipe it gently with a soft cloth.
