This new golden yellow version of the chair is inspired by a yellow-stained-veneer LCW that was displayed in MoMA's 1946 exhibition New Furniture by Charles Eames.
The Museum has been exhibiting work by Charles and Ray Eames since 1941, beginning with Organic Design in Home Furnishings. Other exhibitions included New Furniture Designed by Charles Eames (1946) and Good Design (1950–51).
One of the Eameses’ most famous innovations was their experimentation with the evolving craft of molding plywood. This caught the attention of the U.S. Navy which commissioned the couple to produce molded plywood splints and glider shells.
