This Wire Base Table was developed by Charles Eames after years of experimenting with wire mesh and rods, work that yielded many breakthrough products that have become icons of modern design. The 10-inch-high table has two U-shaped wire rods and cross-members attached to the top, the edges of which are beveled at 20 degrees to reveal its plywood layers. The table's diminutive stature makes it suitable for many uses throughout the home. This table was used by the Eameses for a Japanese-style tea ceremony with a guest list that included Isamu Noguchi and Charlie Chaplin. The work of Charles Eames has long been celebrated and featured in the Museum's collection. Made of seven-ply Baltic birch with a high-pressure laminate top and a zinc-plated wire base.
