The history of fans in Spain can be traced back to the 16th century when they first arrived from Asia. The Spanish then started producing their own during the 17th century and used them as a means of silent communication. They remain popular and used in flamenco shows today. Barcelona-based brand A Fan Of specializes in handcrafted fans that are locally made from natural materials. This Fluid Shapes Handheld Fan features a hand-cut cotton leaf with pearwood ribs and guards that have been hand-polished. Each one is screenprinted using eco-friendly inks certified by Eco Passport by Oeko-Tex. The unique wave shape and bright color palette help distinguish it from traditional straight-edged styles.
