Designed in Italy and crafted from borosilicate glass, this Eggplant Bottle is an exquisite everyday object for your table. Handmade and flame-worked, the bottle has a translucent lavender body in the shape of an eggplant topped with green glass leaves and a stem that acts as a stopper for the spout. Use it as a water bottle for your table and it can also be used to hold oil for vinegar. It’s also a beautiful object to display on its own. Hand wash only. The Glass Eggplant Bottle measures 8.5h x 4.3”diam. and holds 32oz.

MoMA has a history of acquiring faux-food artworks for the Museum’s collection. Claes Oldenburg's obsession with sculpting fake food knew no bounds and included his Two Cheeseburgers, with Everything (Dual Hamburgers) (1962) and Pastry Case, I (1961–62). His famous installation The Store (1961), where oversized replicas of food items were displayed in a mock corner store, is represented in MoMA’s collection with a poster advertising a gallery show. Artists like the Cubists and Ed Ruscha have also used food as themes in their work.
