The idea for the Hulken bag was born from the challenge of carrying bags during a holiday trip to Paris. “Carrying weight awkwardly was hurting my back, and existing solutions were either inefficient or poorly designed," says Hulken inventor Piero Schinasi. “The Hulken bag was born from that need, designed to reduce effort, improve ergonomics, and make everyday transport easier.”
“While we do use sophisticated automated stitching machines in certain stages, these machines are still man-operated and require skilled handling,” explains Hulken co-founder Piero Schinasi. “The fabric is cut and each component is assembled with precision. Different fabrics are bound together very accurately to create a multi-layer ‘memory’ structure that gives the bag its strength, durability, and performance.”
Hulken is designed using high-quality materials and manufacturing partners chosen for consistency and care, with the intention that each bag be used often and for many years. By prioritizing lasting construction and thoughtful production, the goal is to reduce waste through fewer, better products.
Hulken is a New York–based lifestyle brand founded by husband-and-wife duo Alex and Yoni, who built the brand around a rolling tote designed by industrial innovator Piero Schinasi. The original Hulken bag was invented by Piero, Alex’s father, whose decades of experience in functional, durable product design shaped its industrial-grade construction and clean, modern form.
