The Componibili Classic Big, a version of the iconic modular storage unit with larger compartments, was designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri in 1969. A pioneer for women’s rights, Ferrieri was one of the first women to graduate from Milan Polytechnic Institute in 1943. In 1973, she became the president of the Soroptimists, an international feminist organization.
The Componibili Classic Big can be used anywhere throughout the home or office as a side table and for storage. It's useful for holding items such as housewares, cosmetics, towels, toys, books, tools, electronics and more. The tongue-and-groove design allows the doors to seamlessly slide open. It has a round shape with a recessed top and two shelves with sliding doors that have holes for easy opening. Slight assembly required.
The Componibili Classic Big is made from white, water-resistant ABS plastic in Italy by Kartell, which was cofounded by Ferrieri in 1949 and has work in MoMA’s collection. Small version measures 24h x 16.5"diam. with shelves at 7.25h x 15.25w x 16.5"d and 14h x 15.25w x 16.5"d. Large version measures 30h x 15.5"diam. with shelves at 14h x 15.25w x 16.5"d each. The Componibili Classic Big can be stacked.
