Why We Chose This
After Kay Bojesen famed Wooden Monkey Figure was exhibited at a museum in London and it quickly became a classic mid-century toy. He also designed many other wooden animals, including this Wooden Bear Figure. In 1931, Bojesen opened a design store in Copenhagen and during the 1950s and '60s it was one of the few places in the world where one could purchase his wooden animals. Bojesen’s work was featured in MoMA's 2021 exhibition Century of the Child: Growing by Design, 1900–2000.
