Artful eyewear inspired by patterns in Matisse’s paper collage.

MoMA Exclusive: Protect your eyes and pay homage to Henri Matisse, an artist who has work in the Museum’s collection. We partnered with Akila and the Henri Matisse Estate to develop these sunglasses which are based on the 1951 MoMA exhibition catalogue Henri Matisse, for which Matisse created paper cut-outs as the design of the book cover. Handmade from eco-conscious, biodegradable acetate and stainless steel, this round-shaped pair has colorful stripes on the inner frames to brighten up any look. (The silhouette is inspired by the shape of the eyeglasses worn by Matisse.) Its arms display Matisse’s signature, the Akila logo and of course, the MoMA logo as the style was created just for us. Each frame comes with a matching microfiber lens cloth and puff pouch.
