Included in the set are either six or 24 mini ornaments featuring iconic New York City favorites such as a pizza slice, a pretzel, a subway car, a custom MoMA logo taxi and a pigeon, which will bring distinctive character to your Christmas tree. Each set comes in a keepsake pouch and each ornament measures 1.5”h.

“The idea for the ornaments and wreath we designed for MoMA emerged from a wonderful conversation we had with the MoMA Product team,” explains Craftspring founder Anne-Laure Py. “Our shared sense of values, design sensibilities, and love for New York City aligned and inspired these products, which all celebrate the Museum and NYC.”

“Our designs are made by hand using traditional and modern techniques. We sketch, develop, and prototype the samples in our Brooklyn studio. After a design has been approved, we work with our artisan partners to interpret the design based on their expertise and handicraft specializations. Felt is made, dyed, cut, sewn and embroidered by hand to craft each individual piece.”

“One of our favorite designs is the MoMA Highlights Book Ornament, which features two iconic artworks in the Museum’s collection: Oskar Schlemmer’s Bauhaus Stairway and Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. We really enjoyed being able to study these works, figuratively dissecting them and then putting them back together again in a way that would make it possible to craft them by hand with felt and embroidery.”

Craftspring began by creating heirloom quality wool felt Christmas ornaments and holiday home decor in the post-Soviet country of Kyrgyzstan. Now their Brooklyn-based design practice preserves artisanal traditions around the world. Led by Head of Design and Production, Harrison Bradt, their team of designers include Pia Coopeman, Edmund Langdell, Rebecca Davison, and Erika Ramos. All of their products are designed in Brooklyn and are a collaborative effort with their artisan partners. Their designs incorporate traditional and modern techniques while upholding a commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. Everything they do is made by hand with care and intention.
