Richard Scarry (1919–1994) was an iconic children's author and illustrator who published over 300 books, selling more than 100 million copies worldwide. After studying fine arts and serving as a WWII army art director, he spent his career creating detailed, playful worlds. He is best known for Busytown, an imaginative universe populated by beloved animal characters like Lowly Worm and Huckle Cat, designed to teach young children about community and everyday life.
