This MoMA artist’s tribute to desert flowers as an everyday accessory.

MoMA Exclusive: Ruth Asawa is a Japanese American modernist artist known for her abstract wire sculptures inspired by nature. She explored a variety of mediums such as lithographs including the print Desert Flower (TAM. 1460) (1965), a two-dimensional representation of her tied-wire sculptures. This square-shaped silk scarf features a reproduction of the work that was instrumental in bringing about a renaissance of printmaking in the US. Made from 100% silk that has a water-washed finish, it has a luxuriously soft and delicate hand feel—as if you’ve gently worn it in to perfection. Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective will be on view at MoMA from October 19, 2025 through February 7, 2026. The Ruth Asawa Desert Plant Silk Scarf measures 35"sq.
