Contemporary Japanese Textiles, by Cara McCarty and Matilda McQuaid

Published to accompany an exhibition organized by The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and The Saint Louis Art Museum, more than sixty examples of exotic and beautiful creations are illustrated in full color. The texts describe materials used-among others, banana fiber, newspaper, copper, stainless steel, and feathers combined with silk, cotton, wool, linen, and polyester-and an array of ingenious techniques. The works include both handcrafted one-of-a-kind works of art and mass produced industrial products. The book also contains a glossary of terms and biographies of the thirty artists and manufacturers represented. 100 illustrations, including 67 in full color, and textile covered boards.
