“For this collection, I’ve drawn inspiration from flowers and florals,” explains Ilori. “To me, giving flowers represents love, care and affection. I wanted to translate the act of sharing love around the table into the floral motifs on the plates and bowls.”
“I envision my designs becoming treasured objects in people’s homes that they can grow with over time,” says Ilori. “Plates, bowls and tableware are vessels for creating joyful memories with friends and family around shared meals. I hope they feel that objects have become part of their family and everyday rituals.”
“Growing up in Ghana, I’ve always been around color—Africa is quite colorful. People walk down the road wearing clashing colors and clashing prints. It’s that juxtaposition of varied colors that I find a lot of inspiration from. Also, it’s sunny throughout the year in Ghana, so the colors are very bright. If you wear black in Ghana, everybody thinks you’re going to a funeral.”
