Master & Dynamic MA770 Wireless Speaker
Description
A tour de force of materials, technology and craftsmanship, the MA770 Wireless Speaker is a result of Master & Dynamic’s obsession with sound innovation. Co-designed by celebrated architect Sir David Adjaye, the MA770 is made of a proprietary concrete composite, which provides a number of acoustic benefits such as increased dampening.

The protective, magnetic, etched stainless steel grille is removable for those that prefer the look of exposed components. The shape of the speaker features sloping fine edges and triangular shapes that end with a gentle point on the design’s unique back. The MA770 can be used as a single stereo unit or paired with another speaker via Wi-Fi to provide a larger stereo image.

Other features include:

• Dual 4” woven Kevlar long throw woofers
• 1.5” titanium tweeter
• “Chromecast built-in” for multi-room audio—the first speaker to use this technology for stereo pairing
• Diamond-cut anodized aluminum controls
Why We Chose This
MoMA Design Store is committed to choosing designs that use new materials for unexpected design opportunities. Sir David Adjaye designed the MA770 using a new concrete composite, whose acoustic benefits include dampening properties that are five times better than wood and ten times better than plastic. The Tanzanian-born British architect often looks to industrial materials for new design opportunities, as evidenced in his innovative use of concrete, steel, aluminum, and glass for the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. In engineering the MA770, Adjaye says he “became fascinated with the idea of triangles to break down the mass of the box [...] and dissolve the sense of volume through sculptural detail.”
