Using color, form and styling, he is credited with bringing office designs into the realm of popular culture like his iconic 1968 design of the Valentine Portable Typewriter represented in MoMA’s collection. In 1981, Sottass founded the Memphis Group, which designed Postmodern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, glass and metal objects until 1987.
